Aligner treatment

Our clinic cooperates with the ClearX aligners manufacturer.

Orthodontic aligners are an aesthetic treatment method for occlusal disorders. Dental aligners are forms made of biocompatible plastic, which are thin, transparent, yet strong and durable. Thanks to the scientific achievements, digital technology, special software and materials, aligner treatment is increasingly becoming a key orthodontic treatment method.

Aligners are barely noticeable in the mouth. They are installed over the entire dental arch. Aligners are removed from the mouth only for eating and cleaning the teeth. Aligners are changed in every 10-14 days. Aligners can cause a little tooth sensitivity, but only for the first few days after installing a new aligner. Dental aligners do not affect your speech, they must be removed before eating and put back afterwards.

Your dentist will give you specific instructions, explanations and a description of visits and the course of the treatment process.

Aligner treatment is only successful if you follow the treatment instructions exactly. The most important thing is self-motivation and maintaining oral hygiene. Similarly, knowledge about eating/drinking is important, as well as an understanding of what attachments are (composite buttons on the teeth) and rubber braces (stretchable rubber rings that are attached from the upper dental arch to the lower, which help improve the position of the dental arches and direct the movement of certain teeth more intensively).

It is important to learn how to place the aligner in your mouth. In the aligner treatment, the aligner should always be properly pressed entirely on the teeth. In this way, the aligner can apply the necessary pressure on the teeth to move them into the required position.

At the end of aligner treatment, it is important to understand that wearing a retention aligner is absolutely necessary. The retention aligner keeps the positions of the teeth as they were at the end of the treatment. When you stop using the retention aligner, the teeth may shift back to their pre-treatment position.

Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours a day, i.e., you must keep aligners in the mouth both day and night. Aligners are removed from the mouth only for eating and cleaning the teeth. There must be no aligner-free days during treatment.

Diagnostics is always necessary for the digital planning of aligner treatment and the manufacture of aligners. It includes x-rays, dental records, scans to obtain a digital 3D model, and photographs of the teeth and face.

The collected information is uploaded to the aligner treatment planning software, which is used to prepare a detailed treatment plan.  This will show the step-by-step description of the treatment both in writing and in images. Thus, before the treatment begins and the aligners are ordered, you can visually see the expected end result.

As with any other medical procedure, no guarantees can be made concerning the outcome of aligner treatment. The result depends largely on the patient’s commitment, i.e., how he/she adheres to the instructions of the dentist and aligner manufacturer. In terms of materials, there is a manufacturer’s warranty, and the manufacturer also guarantees the manufacture of additional aligners, if necessary, in case there are discrepancies in the treatment result and the treatment plan. Correspondence, treatment plan, signed consent form, as well as submitted and paid invoices serve as proof of mutual agreements.
